Purpose: The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (SHH) is an honor society for high school students enrolled in Spanish and Portuguese and is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP). The purpose of the society is to recognize high achievement of high school students in the Spanish and Portuguese languages and to promote a continuing interest in Hispanic and Portuguese studies. -from SHH website
The Rio Bravo Chapter was established by the World Languages Department in August of 1998. New members are inducted at the beginning of each Spring semester.

Applications available in AUGUST on this website.
Applications due to Señorita Rincon no later than August 25 to Room 112 or online.
The World Language Department faculty will review each application.
Applicants will be notified through their Spanish teacher or by stopping by room 112.
A mandatory induction ceremony will be held in before the month of April.
The 2023 application period is OPEN later on in the month of AUGUST 2023. Expectations of Inducted Members: Expectations of Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica members are drawn from the constitution and bylaws of the national Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica. In summary, they are:
Enrollment and completion of the Spanish class for which you qualify.
Attendance at the induction ceremony in May.
Maintenance of a 3.5 cumulative average in Spanish classes.
Maintenance of an 3.0 cumulative semester average in all classes.
Participation in Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica meetings, community service and activities.
Attendance at induction ceremony of new members.
Participation in the AP Spanish Language and AP Spanish Literature exams when offered.
Maintenance of a behavioral record free from suspension, instances of academic dishonesty. (i.e. plagiarism), and/or a pattern of inappropriate behavior.
Meet all deadlines and pay any required dues.
Fulfillment of yearly service and language requirements (30 hrs. per school year/ 4 hrs. with sponsors)
2 hrs. per semester tutoring with sponsors
2 events per semester
Failure to meet these expectations will result in a written warning, a probation period, and/or removal from the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica

Requisites to turn in: 1. Turn in 2 letters of recommendation (online) - One core class and one elective of your preference 2. Copy of attendance (print) 3. Disciplinary record (No referrals, no truancy, etc.) [print] 4. A copy of grades from CCRP (Unofficial copy) [print] 5.
